GENERAL INFORMATION
This section contains information provided by Pump Centre and its members on a variety of pumping related issues:
Spare a thought for overall costs
(available to non-members)
Dirk Mucha of Seepex looks at the way using pump spares which have not come from the pump's maker may have a negative effect on whole life costs. Article reprinted with kind permission from Water & Waste Treatment Journal.

Repair and Overhaul of Pumping Plant
(available to non-members)
The performance and reliability of pumps deteriorate as components age, internal clearances open-up and flow passages become roughened due to wear, erosion, corrosion and cavitation. Common problem areas include bearing and seal reliability although the root cause of many of these problems is often a hydraulic effect, such as operating too far away from the best efficiency point of the pump or insufficient suction head.
